Professional Web Design and Development

Project procedure

Consultation

We will talk with you, in person, on the phone and by e–mail, to get the details of your project, discuss your goals, assets, and constraints, answer any questions you may have, and draft a project brief.

Following this we will write up the full design brief including project scope and a quote for design work. Together these make up the Proposal which will be presented to you for approval and forms the basis of our mutual agreement to commence the project.

Design

Designing begins with analysis, we will carry out more detailed research when required, and may start collecting samples of content for your site. This will allow us to draft a Design Specification, if required, this can be written up for your approval before continuing.

Next we work on the best structure for your site, run through the plan for visitors entering your site at any point, and work out what functions need to be available where. We will then build a prototype for you to see how the site works with no graphics or layout, which we can use together to refine the structure, content and functional design.

Now we can begin on page layout and graphic design elements. Multiple concept designs may be presented to you to choose from, and the final one will be modified or tweaked until we are all satisfied with the result.

Development

We will write up a development plan detailing what is to be done and who is responsible for producing what. This will be combined with a quote for the production and maintenance work.

Production involves building the layout of your site and incorporating the graphic interface, producing and inserting the content, and programming in the interactive functions.

We can help arrange your site's web host and will publish it for you, in addition to writing a copy onto a CD for you to keep. Once your site has been launched we will provide minor updates to content, and carry out regular maintenance when required.
